Saxophonist and composer Anders Lønne Grønseth join forces with pianist Morten Qvenild to improvise over Grønseth’s arrangements for string quartet with the unusual combination of violin, viola, cello and double bass.

The borders between the composed and the improvised are challenged in this encounter between a string quartet and two improvising musicians. Inspiration from classical, jazz, contemporary and music of foreign cultures unite in an atmosphere where lush melodies and moods are followed by unpredictable improvised sections. The strong individual voices of Grønseth and Qvenild add a rich palette of shades and colours to the nuanced interpretation of the string quartet.
